I'll suggest a few good pubs. Against the grain on Wexford street has A great beer selection an vibe. O'Donneghues on Baggot street is a good traditional bar and always has a music session on weekends. A good college haunt of mine is the Gingeman around te corner from Pearse train station and has a very good pitcher deal on Francisacan well micro brew beers and party platters of food if you hav people with you. The Black sheep is also run by the same crowd as against the grain so it's very similar.
