I went into a local jean shop today called Rising Sun Imperial Denim. They're located in Old Town Pasadena, CA. They make their products in store in a small workshop behind the store. It's a cool store and all, but the prices are insanely high ($350+ for most of the standard looking jeans). Today i went into the store (they have a really really nice sales girl working there but she doesn't know too much about denim) and she actually called her boss to ask for me if i could buy some fabric. The guy talked to me and asked what i intended to do with the fabric. I told him that i wanted to make a messenger bag out of denim, and if he was willing to sell me 2 yards of his insanely large bolt of fabric. He said no. I then asked if THEY would make me one, and he replied with (and i quote), "No, that sort of item is a little too cheap and beneath us." I was like, WOW. DOUCHEBAG. He told me that he was working on a bag, but it wasn't a messenger bag. I don't understand why he had to be so touchy and not even sell me some fabric to make a product that they didn't even make.
They have a 17oz bolt and a 14 oz bolt. Wouldn't sell either. Also told me that he had the 17oz reserved for some really special stuff. Bleh
He also talks down about 21 oz and how denim was never made in 21 oz back in the old days, and then he further asked me if i even knew what 21 oz feels like. He said it felt like wearing a rug. I was wearing my pair of 13.5 oz simon millers but UGH i wish i was wearing my ironhearts. I can't wait till i can go back with a pair of IH and just show him what quality really is. BAH!
