The Steam Locomotive
« on: March 10, 2010, 07:53:05 AM »
Ok, so as far as i know The Steam Locomotive, or TSL for short, is going to be going up live on the SE website "soon". That said, i know Giles has personal experience with them and i have been peeping out this brand for a while now too, however i have yet to see a pair in person.

I am anxiously anticipating the arrival of this new line at SE so i can finally go and take a look at them myself. I know this is the IH forum and i know quite a few of you only like the heavy shizz; but i dont hate on the average denim weight, i gots love for all! i like my jeans like i likes my women, all weights & all colors. hahaha.

TSL Official Website

also, i was wondering if anyone here, COUGH*lando/pete*COUGH, had any info as what Kiya meant by this on Sufu...
The question was about when TSL goes live online...

Plus, those that might not dig this kind of denim, keep in mind,

IF ITS GOOD ENOUGH FOR GILES, ITS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME!

Glad this thread has been started. I have also been awaiting the new line at SE. On March 6th Kiya wrote on his Twitter, "Soaking a pair of Steam Locomotive's..." I would love to see his new pair!

Yeah, he mentioned prior to this that the TSL's were going to be his next project now that he isn't really wearing his RJB 106(add something here) lol. But I am really interested as in what the 'Black Yakuza' thing is... Hmmmmm....

They already have a few pairs in at SE NYC. Andrew twisted my arm in to trying a pair on last week; they seem like yet another 47 Levis repo to me. That said fine details and unbelieeeevably stiff denim of about 14oz, these things are like cardboard!  As they are unsanforized, I guess some of the starch (if that is what makes them so stiff?) will come out on that initial soaking?

Awesome, good to know Simon. Thanks for that initial report. Hope to see them in person some time soon at SESF. And yeah, most likely it is a starched up motherlover.

Just copped the D62XX from SESF. I went in to grab those stickers for everyone and ended up asking Kiya about his recent purchase of TSL's. He pulled them out as they had just returned from a hem. I began to look at them closely and decided to try on a W32... I was SOLD instantly!!! This is all your fault IH Forum!!!  ::) JK. Anyways, I am very excited to get these soaked in the next few hours so maybe they can dry before the sun goes down???
Kiya told me that these shrank an incredible amount... In the Rise?!?! that's okay as they have some spare room, but crazy huh? Anyways, many photos to come just for you DEP!  ;)

seems kind of random to shrink a bunch in the rise.

That's what we were talking about. Don't worry I will document shrinkage with IH style measurements pre and post soak.

Nice pickup Lando!  I was quite impressed when I saw the TSL samples last time at SE
but they also make a lot of accessories (shirts, watches, wallets).  I will live
vicariously through you this time!  Is it me or the IH forum is kicking ass these days with
the updates, etc. :)

Fantastic pickup LandoCal ! Can't wait to see pictures ! How come I never run into Kiya at Self Edge ? I always see Derek and Ginno, but never Kiya.

Kiya is a Ninja 8) in his spare time practicing his craft while working at SE. If you blink you may miss him.
