I'm going to comment here and post in random announcements too.

We have guidelines for a reason.  They are there so that we can try and keep this place a civilised and pleasant place to be. 

Do we like banning members?  On the whole, no.  Personally I hate it when we have to do it. But if we do not follow our own guidelines we will allow this place to become a complete mess.

I had an issue recently with a member who accused me of being really lame when I said that if we did not impose some guidelines and follow through with them, this place would descend into anarchy.  He said that on the whole this was a benign place and that there really was no requirement for moderating as on the whole the members were a "nice bunch".

Whilst some of that is true, one of the principal reasons this is a nice place to be and that the member are a "nice bunch" is that the mod team work hard to make it that way.  Personally I scrutinise every single member that applies to join and if I think that they are not a genuine person, I do not allow them to join, currently I deny about 10 applications a day.  If I did not do that we would have anarchy.

I am passionate about this place not being over moderated and will work hard to ensure that it stays that way, but please believe me when I tell you that there is a mass of stuff that goes on in the background that you do not, and should not see.  The moderator team work hard and sometimes have to make difficult decisions, but as Doug has already said, no decision is made lightly, nor is it made unilaterally, we discuss this stuff at length to get a consensus before we do anything.

I think the one in the link you sent me is more or less the same shirt, but this has a western yoke on the front like the Self Edge one.

My measurements, laid flat: Chest 22" across, Shoulders 19 1/2 across.  Sleeves 26

I am going to list an IH 526J OD on ebay shortly, but firstly I thought I could offer it instead of the shirt.

It is a size 46 , which I think is an XL, or XXL. It is too tight on me.

Hardly worn but I removed the leather patch because it was so thick digging in my back.

Hm, the 526OD sounds kinda interesting. The only IH-jacket I own is a IHW-02. By the way - I asked my GF to have a look at my closet because I´am not at home and I do own a IHSH-21 which I like but actually its a workshirt and I prefer snap buttons on my shirts.

XL IHSH-21 is too small for you, isn´t it?

What do you think concerning the jacket? Whats that beauty worth?

I wouldn't say the shirt was too small, its spot on. Couldn't take any more shrinkage.

my IHSH-21 is XL. I´d trade that for your chambray but I´m not sure if it will fit you? Id say its a tad bigger than normal XL IH-shirts but it´s still not XXL. I´am sort of in between sizes.. XL in this one fits me great though e.g. XL in IHSH-37 is too small.

I´d love to give that jacket a try (never owned a jeans jacket before) so if you feel like tradiing that one against the beefrolls feel free to tell me. I´d be in!

Where do you live? In the states? I live in Germany. I´d send you the shoes as soon as I arrive back at home (12.01.2012). Of course you don´t have to send me the jacket in advance, I´am patient ^^

I am fine with a trade of the jacket for the shoes. You will love the jacket. The black overdue makes it easy to wear with jeans without looking too cowboy.

The xl may fit me. The I H site says it measures 23.5 chest. That will be fiapne if it has not shrunk .

I got it from Tinman (though he said he has not washed / worn it) so I can´t be 100% sure but I have washed it about 3 times and I wash all my IH-gear 30°C and 600rpm (lowest possible and it shoes no wear at all I´d say.

Not sure wether that shirt might stretch.. maybe p2p is 57cm as well. How about this: I send you the shirt as well and you have a try. If you like it, you send me your shirt. If you don´t like it you send it back to me?

You have some time to think because I forgot about my practical course this afternoon and had to correct some protocols which took the whole morning. Will send out tomorrow for sure!

Some months ago, I contacted simon regarding his Oak St. Loafers and a possible trade with an IH Western shirt I had in XXL. He tentatively agreed although he was slightly worried about the size of the shirt being too big.

My IH 526 J OD became involved in the deal, as did his xl chambray workshirt, which I thought maybe too small at xl.


To cut a long story short , we agreed a trade : My Jacket and shirt for his shoes & shirt. Although we agreed that the shirts were negotiable if the fit was not right.

Therefore I held onto my items whilst I checked his shirt out. i honestly thought this was better than sending my shirt over to him, only to have to send both shirts back to each other.

On receipt, his shirt was fine but the shoes, although very nice, were too big.

I returned the shoes to him, along with my shirt in the exchange. In the spirit of our agreement I did not believe this would be a problem at all.  I would like to add that if he had found my jacket unsuitable I would have been perfectly happy to take it back.

I was wrong, cue multiple pm s of dissatisfaction from Simon.  He also made some cryptic posts on the villains thread, though nothing more. 

I offered to return simon’s shirt to him in return for mine back . However, he was not so distraught with the deal that he wished to cancel it entirely.

He has been quite happy to keep my western shirt, so the deal did not destroy his life completely. Despite the tragedy of the shoes, I assumed he would eventually be able to get over the trauma and rebuild his life.

I note from his recent posts however, that he has far from forgotten.

I have no problem with simon, indeed I can understand his point of view. I don’t think he is a villain, maybe you think I am.

However, I have bought and sold a number of items on this forum (with no problems whatsoever).

This has obviously been eating away at him since January, over the weekend he has posted a sales thread specifically excluding me, compounding this by misleading posts about the mods taking me to task etc. something which has never happened. 

So that is the story, like simon says above, everyone can make their own minds up. Shame he could not have posted that first.

 I have no dispute with simon, I do not even challenge his account of what happened. I just thought we were conducting a friendly deal , not signing contracts in blood.
