The (foolish) assumption was: beer brewed in abbeys = Belgian.

I think I once read on a box of Chimay that there are only 7 Trappist breweries in the world- 6 Belgian, one Dutch.  So based on statistical averages, beer brewed in abbeys = Belgian is usually the right call.

^Yep, but those abbey beers are commercialised beers and not actually brewed by monks ... there probably will be an eight Trappist later this year called Stift Engelszell from Austria (they haven't officially been granted the label just yet) ...

St Feuillien blond. As you know I'm a HUGE fan of their extra blond dégustation beer, so was wondering what the normal blond would taste like. Well: it is enormeously good. Not a tripel, but still a 7.5° beer!.. This and the La Trappe tripel were the two beers I added to my shop's stock a week ago... Both passing with flying colours!..
