Haraki-san (owner and inspiration behind Ironheart) brings the world the first raw Ironheart jean.
Limited to 400 pairs worldwide
In its raw state the denim is about 21.5oz, after washing or soaking this increases to a hefty 23oz or so.
The denim was actually woven accidentally when experimenting for a new 21oz denim for the "regular" IH634S, but Haraki-san loved the denim so much he knew he would end up making a jean out of it. Well 5 years later, and a tweak or two here and there, here it is.
These jeans are not for the faint of heart and you'll need to invest time, effort and patience breaking them in. As Haraki-san says "It's like raising a rebellious baby". In the words of one of our favourite customers "jeez, they're radacular" (radical and spectacular).
There's about 10% shrinkage in the leg after the first couple of soaks or washes and because the denim has not been tampered with, there's going to be some serious seam-skew. If you like your side seams at the side, then buy a pair of IH634S!!
The artisans who make these jeans in the factory have to successfully demonstrate their ability to "extreme-sew" when constructing a pair of "normal" IH634S, before we let them loose on a pair of the 5 Year Anniversary specials. And even then, they have to hand-make custom components for the sewing machines because in their "off-the-shelf" spec, even our super-tough machines simply can't sew the individual pieces of denim together.
And the noise in the factory when these are being made -it's like Hades! The multiple thicknesses of denim actually have to be beaten into submission with heavy hammers before we can get them through the sewing machines, mercifully the production runs are so small, that it's only a short visit to Hell. This is no ordinary garment factory. |
