Oh absolutely — I’m in that exact same age bracket and I find the concept of growing immersed in the internet, smartphones, and social media absolutely terrifying. I feel for the whippersnappers.

I am totally with you on that. I still find it offensive that Alex Garland just took Jeff Van Der Meer’s basic premise and tossed the rest. Plus the orig was a MUCH more interesting story, imho. AG is a good writer, too — you’d think he’d be more respectful of that sort of thing after Danny Boyle murdered The Beach in the film adaptation.

@sabergirl I haven’t checked out Euphoria because I’ve been scared it’ll just make me worry about “kids these days.” And I don’t even have kids :D I’ll fully admit it’s an absurd reason.

@Joberwocky man it’s so good! I love that they were willing to spend money on a more heady sci fi offering. The world needs more of that.

@Joberwocky I really liked Season 1 — thought it was kind of perfectly ramshackle. Haven't gotten to S2 yet, though.

In other series news, I saw that Raised by Wolves is coming back at the beginning of Feb. SUPER psyched for that.

Love that Rickard Javerling record! I need to pop it on, been a while. Love that label in general.

Thanks @Graeme for that wealth of information — that's a ton of stuff that's all super helpful!

The stuff you and @henry_david mentioned about the Rolex hype makes a lot of sense — I feel like the pandemic / supply chain issues combined with forums and social media have created a ton of ridiculous frenzies in so many areas, driving prices way up. As a music gear geek, I've witnessed this hardcore — it's upsetting. BUT, I think in a lot of ways it just reinforces my gravitation towards Omega as a little more of a sleeper brand. I mean, it's not a sleeper — but it's not Rolex, so there's something I like about that. Part of me has always sort of sought out the dark horse.

I think a modern one would be great, especially considering condition and repairs. I think if I can find a 300M in the $3K zone, I'd be supper happy. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out.

Like I mentioned though, definitely not in any kind of hurry, so I'll see what I can do about checking out some shops here in Austin and trying a couple on. I'll surely need some in-person vibes to really get a feel, really wouldn't be a fan of spending that much money on something without getting some good hands-on experience.

Again, thank y'all so much! This is fun.

I still love Moz's music but ffs he is an insufferable twat. Mustaine makes it hard for sure.

Been really burning up this record lately — a little bit of ELO/The Move, Nilsson, Emitt Rhodes vibes in there. Apparently this guy's in Jeff Tweedy's solo band vis a vis being a childhood friend of Spencer, which makes me feel like a fucking fossil... but damn if it's not a great album

Came back to add that while I do agree that 3sixteen sweats are of a bit lesser quality, I have really enjoyed the few I have. Despite the fact that I've had a QC issue or two with a couple other items of theirs, I've never had any problems with my hoodies and crews — the indigo dyed fleece is especially soft, highly recommend that one if you're not looking to spend north of 200 bucks on a hoodie.

Apparently I have been upgraded to the status of 啓蒙家 which I understand (according to Google) translates to enlightenment. The irony of this is not lost on me, being dim at best, however it’s been a great pleasure to get to this point on the forum and getting to know some of you a little bit. More of the same please, and I can’t wait to meet some of y’all properly at the anniversary doo

Been a real pleasure for me as well! Good crew here, awesome to get to know so many people from all kinds of places and backgrounds. I need to be a better sharer like yourself in WAYWT etc — one of my new year's resolutions. Cheers!

Hell yes to all of this! Tremendous help, y'all. @mclaincausey one of my best friends in college had a girlfriend who worked for Breitling — I hadn't thought about them in a long time. I'll def give em a look, as well as Oris for sure.

Haha nice, the Pulp Fiction golden briefcase moment, watch edition ;D

Yep I definitely need to go try some on, at the very least to get a good feel for case size.
