Video from The Economist on how the economy might worsen as we emerge from lockdown.

Nope. That's The BareBack.  Not to be confused with the Extractor (no pics yet).....

Along with the Big Buck these sound like names of performers in some weird porn movie. :o

Another Himel Bros video. This one features the Peregrin, which is a very cool two-tone jacket.

Thanks @Giles - I'll have to figure out what to do instead.

Thanks for all of the advice. Unfortunately I didn't get the job in the end. :'(

No real feedback was given, but I didn't think that the design interview went well, and I'm terrible at behavioural questions.

Ah well, there are other companies...

If you like, I can check for you. My sons mentor is a SME in the field. My son has dysgraphia

It's probably not a lot of help at this stage. I interview on Monday and Tuesday, so I wouldn't get a reply before then.

Thanks. :)

@DougNg I mentioned it in passing to my recruiter after the first round, but the process doesn't seem to have changed. So who knows...

Thanks for the suggestion. :)

@Stuart.T thanks for the link. It looks like SAP and Microsoft are the leaders here.

Thanks @sabergirl.

Atlassian had a head of diversity and inclusion (Aubrey Blanche, who's now moved to Culture Amp), but when they interviewed me it was a standard HR screening call which I didn't get past. I didn't disclose being autistic to them, maybe I should have done.

Microsoft have a recruitment programme for those on the spectrum. I'm tempted to put in an application, but it's for jobs in the US and Australia has basically shut its borders in both directions until Covid-19 blows over.

The Kensington café racer is a surprisingly complicated pattern. This is an interesting video on it.

I'm in the process of interviewing for one of the big tech companies in Silicon Valley.

The process has been a first round technical screen, which I somehow passed. The next week I've got two coding sessions, one on design, and a behavioural interview.

The technical screen and the coding interviews next week are all based around algorithmic questions. There's are websites such as leetcode that have examples of the sorts of problems that I'll be faced with.

The trouble is that the standardised questions mean that a cottage industry has grown up around preparing for this interviews, and as a result candidates are expected to spend a significant amount of time preparing. A hundred hours was mentioned to me...

Interview three will be behavioural. I'm autistic and never get on with these sorts of things. :(

Interview four will be a design exercise. From what I can gather from watching a YouTube video, this is likely to have vague or ambiguous assumptions. Guess what people on the spectrum don't get on with?

Still, it's a great opportunity, particularly for someone whose career died in a ditch five or six years ago. It's just a shame that the Coronavirus thing is going on, as I'd have been heading to SF next week.
