This is a truly beautiful jacket. I own an identical one a size larger. The softness of the leather is unique amongst the 6 - 8 different leather jackets I’ve owned over the years.

@goosehd you simultaneously nailed the perfect tone-of-olive shirt with an impeccable fit. Awesome in my book! Enjoy it hard these F & W seasons.

Great story @Seul Love this thread and look forward to it every day, even if it’s mostly beers that I’ll never ever get to try. You, my friend, are the glue that holds this wonderful thread together. And for that I thank you!

+1 here! Keep it up @Seul; this is a fun ,if unattainable from here, thread.

Well said @Jett129 .

Jackets / Re: IHJ-79-BLK - Primaloft® Gold Quilted Riders Jacket - Black

My regular layering system is: merino T-shirt, cashmere jumper, IHJ-79-BLK, leather jacket.

Down to 8C it keeps me warm up to motorway speeds (140km/h) for long stretches of time.
Below 8C i cannot sustain motorway speeds for more than an hour before i start to get cold.
At slower speeds (say 50 to 90km/h) i can go as low as 3C and still feel nice and toasty for hours at a time.

Great job @Carlos840 documenting the thermal functionality of this piece. 👍🏼👍🏼

For me, this jacket thermally covers nearly all my needs as I infrequently wear it in really cold conditions. Your data should be of good use when I take those occasional trips. Cheers.

Welcome @krebsy ! The only Philly suburb I got to know is Chester County during college years WAY back. Hope you enjoy this forum and the fantastic IH gear.

Hardware / Re: IHG-083 - Big Brass Belt Buckle

Looking at @Chap ‘s solution made me realize there is a simpler fix. The Chap solution may be of interest and use to @xtcclassic , @neph93 and @sabergirl !

Thread your belt around your waist the other way around. That way, the longish supports will sit lower on your denim. The right side (looking from the wearer’s perspective) of denim is ‘lower’ than the left half. That height difference will nearly compensate for the long pin supports of the buckle. That would be the simplest fix…kudos to @chap for that breakthrough!

Of course, tightening the belt with the ‘wrong’ hand is a non-trivial exercise, as I discovered playing around with this change!

I will take that one.

Fully agree with @profdbrk on the quality of these socks. My grey pair has been around for 4 years and appears ready for 10 more. Recently got a pair of black ones (IHG-030) and I believe they are even more comfortable than the IHG-029 pair. The grey ones can bite into my calf after a full day wearing them while the black pair hold up just as well without the eventual calf bite.
And they appear equally long lasting. I can’t begin to surmise why other folks seek and EVEN MORE DURABLE sock than this one…
Anyhow, outstanding functionality, durability and comfort on these!

This is explicitly a riders jacket, the M65 is not.  I don’t disagree that functionality would be increased for the casual wearer, but if you are going to design a jacket that should act as an insulating layer, under leathers, for a rider, this is it.

Fully agree with @neph93 on this point…for a motorcyclist, a collar made thicker by a rolled up hood will never be as comfortable under a full face helmet as a thin, windproof collar which slides easily under the helmet. The reason I say this is a dream ‘motorcycle inner layer. Haraki san absolutely nailed this one perfectly for the motorcycle riders!

This jacket is a jewel for motorcyclists:
- very wind resistant and warm under a motorbike jacket
- packs small and light (+ no wrinkles)
- thin & slippery so won’t bulk up at the arms, armpits nor chest while putting on your outer jacket
- looks GOOD on its own when you are off the bike without your outer jacket

Don’t hesitate…only downside is it makes me wish I lived somewhere cooler/colder!
