I'm very sad to be missing this, i really should have been there for this party but it was a bit too short of notice for me and i have to be in NY for two weeks starting in a couple of days.
I promise to be at the next one, hope you all have a great time and make sure Giles shows you his potato rocket.  :)

This was seriously my favorite trip in a while, we had a blast.
Hope to recreate these times in California and Cabo (Mexico) later this year. :)

But I agree with Till about one thing -- the whole limited run strategy of higher dollar SEXIH07 products is a marketing strategy !

I get quite worked up when i read this on forums.  This couldn't be further from the truth.
We have to meet minimums, let's say the minimum order of jeans is 150, and let's say that costs a store about $30,000.  We have to pay that all at once, to successfully run a business you should be able to flip that product within a certain number of days.  Once we sell out, if we want more we have to order another 150 pairs.. you see where this is going?  It's limited because factories have order minimums, so if it's a custom product for one store it can't always be in production unless you're a large corporation which can have very large sums of money tied up in stock of a SINGLE product.

Good for you, Shuba. That's the right attitude. It shows on the website as Sold Out already. Before it's released? Why put it on the site then? Or is that a marketing measure like a gallery putting red dots on works that aren't really sold?

No, as stated in large BOLD red letters right on the product page itself:
"This jacket will be released at SESF, SENY, and in our online store this wednesday, January 13th at 1pm (PST). Stock is very limited and there are no restocks of this jacket, they do not shrink at all because the overdye process gets rid of all the shrinking properties of the denim. Check the online store for hi-res photos, specifications, and a size chart."

Our website defaults showing "Sold Out" if there's no stock of an item, if i add the stock in to get rid of the "sold out" then you'd be able to buy it now.  We COULD just wait till the release to put the item in our online store but then we'd be fielding sizing chart and spec questions leading up to the release, this way customers know if they want it or not well before the release date.

Thanks to Grant for sending me the outtake photos.

Self Edge x Iron Heart = SEXIH07 - BORN TUFF

The third collaboration between Self Edge and Iron Heart has been over a year in the making. This jean, designed by Diesel, went through multiple changes of fabrics and cuts until it's final iteration was conceived in a jean that would be not only a very versatile cut but in a fabric that would outlast anything else.

A heavyweight unsanforized denim which for the first time ever from Iron Heart ages with extreme contrast and great character that rivals the best Japanese denim available today. With a silhouette that Diesel designed to fit every body type we've decided to do these in a wide range of sizes due to it's extremely versatile fit.

We're very excited about the black version of this jean, the SEXIH07BK. This version of the SEXIH07 jean has been overdyed black with a fugitive pigment dye which is an unstable and un-permanent dye that fades to later show the indigo denim underneath. Essentially this is a denim that begins black and fades to indigo in high friction areas, or what the Japanese call the "atari" fade. This particular model is what we feel the most original and exciting fabric we've ever put into a jean.
Iron Heart released a set of overdyed jeans (using their flagship 21oz sanforized denim) four years ago, those turned out to be some of the best looking worn jeans we've ever seen from the few people that got their hands on a pair, we expect these to look even better considering what's underneath the dye.

The SEXIH07 and SEXIH07BK jeans will be released at Self Edge San Francisco & Self Edge New York at Noon (Local Time) on Saturday, December 5th.
The jeans will also be available online at 2pm (PST) the same day in the online store.

Check our online store for more information on this jean, a complete specification list, measurements, and hi-res photos:

Please send the invoice to paypal@selfedge.com.
