Iron Heart Meet Ups & Travel / Re: Matt's Airstream Adventure

Just wanted to say this thread is awesome. No way in a million years I'd be brave enough to take on anything like this, but following along here is fun anyway.

Also making me want to take more holidays in the US...

Ah OK thanks @Graham, good to know! Now I just have to try and come up with a justification for adding _another_ jacket to my collection...

I think I could definitely get down with an XL in one of these... maybe against my better judgement seeing that I already have an overdyed CPO. But damn it looks good.

@Giles out of curiosity, any refresh on the sold-out sizes expected anytime soon, as the weather's getting cooler?
I asked Graham via email (amazing service from Graham and Chesson by the way!) about restock plans and it doesn't sound promising, sadly:

"This was only just restocked and the denim is notoriously hard to come by so we have no plans to make any more at the moment. This last run has taken over a year to arrive I am afraid."

Hmmm... very hard to make a guess based on that info other that to say you are between an M and an L.

I suspect both would work but you may find the L a little roomy. Sam is mostly an L because of length issues, he is pretty tall. I’m sort of tempted to say try an L if you want to layer. However, given that your shirts are relaxed in that 20-21” space I’d err towards M.

Seeing as you are in the UK I’d strongly consider giving the guys in Gosport a ring and having a chat and go with their recomendation. Worst case you have to exchange it and what with overnight delivery you’ll only loose a day or two.

Cheers for the advice, @neph93, really helpful. One other key point I've just spotted though is that L is currently out of stock, so if M doesn't work I guess I'm stuck waiting for a restock  :(

Based on that I think I'll order an M and see if it works. If not, it'll go back and I'll have to find some patience from somewhere.
Sadly the M didn't quite work out for me in the end - was on the snug side of a good fit with only a t-shirt underneath, but didn't really work at all with anything heavier.

I ended up picking up a IH-526J-142IB in L from Rivet & Hide. Had originally ignored this because I wanted something blacker so went to R&H to browse, but ended up really liking it when I saw it in person.

This jacket looks amazing. I'm hoping it can be my first IH piece. It would be great if somebody could help me out with some sizing advice first though. My measurements are roughly:

Height 6'0"
Shoulders 19.5"
Chest 38"
Waist 31"
Hips 34"

I wear medium in virtually everything ever, but I'm wondering if I should go up to a large for this. Unfortunately I don't have a similar style jacket (which fits me) to measure, but I measured a few of my favourite flannels, which tend to be about 17" across the shoulders and 20" - 21" p2p, and fit fairly relaxed. Looking at the IH staff vitals, I'm somewhere between Sam (large) and AJ (medium). Ideally I'd like to be able to wear a flannel or hoody underneath, although most of the things I own are nowhere near as heavy as anything IH.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks all. Yeah I'm trying not to become one of those people who can only talk about their baby, but this is basically my life at the moment...

Hi Everyone

I'm James, living in London (but include the standard disclaimer that I'm not from here originally!).

I've been wearing raw denim since I bought a pair of Nudies back in about 2008. That pair is still going strong, although at this point they've had so many repairs it's debatable whether they're really the same jeans (think Trigger's broom). These days my favourite pair are by PBJ, bought from Rivet and Hide a couple of years ago. I don't have any Iron Heart stuff yet but hoping to remedy that soon, which is how I came across this place. Have to say I've been super impressed with how friendly and knowledgeable everyone round here seems.

Apart from denim I also appreciate good coffee and good beer, which seems to be a common theme. I used to have a lot of other hobbies too, but a new baby has put them all on hold for the time being!

Looking forward to getting hold of some IH stuff and learning loads more from this forum.

Cheers
