News / Re: Iron Heart Denim Glossary - Beta version
« on: Yesterday at 07:35:10 pm »
Here’s one...In light of the popularity of the recent Indigo Fade Competition, there’s a lot of talk about “CONTEST JEANS”,by contestants or by manufacturers who are making special edition  jeans for contestants to wear In the contest. Early on in my IH days there was a Denim World Championship for which IH was making a special limited edition jean. I ordered a pair because I thought they were really cool, not thinking I might be depriving a genuine contestant of the opportunity to have them. When I voiced my concern I was told not to worry. Nonetheless Contest/Competition jeans might need a space in the glossary.

@Brock You must, truly, have an Iron Heart. Really great stuff!

I have no preference as a buyer, but as a seller I only list one at a time. So far that’s worked out for me.

If it’s in your budget you might want to get a pair anyway,as I think you would really like the fit. I think they’re the slimmest of all the 555 iterations, you’re not likely to see any other 21OZ double indigo, and last but not least they’re crazy comfortable.

Fantastic. thank you @Giles . I've been trying to figure out what to wear for the second indigo invitational and those might be it. i've also had my eye on the 555SG-IND.. hmmm. back to pondering
.       Funny that you said that as I have a pair of those and thought they would be great contest jeans, but thought people might shy away from them because they’re,technically, not denim. I got mine during an initial Pandemic Panic sale and have just started getting into them. The color is stunning.

I’m getting up tomorrow morning to photograph the sunrise on the ocean, and I’m going to drive to it. Feel like a total pussy.

If I remember correctly, I think, that denim was quite expensive to make at that time. I also think in years to come when denim heads reminisce about legendary denims, this one will definitely have reverential status. Maybe it’s best that it’s never repeated. Easy for me to say,as I was fortunate enough to get a pair.

Last time I was in Seattle I came across Lighthouse coffee, which I loved, but I’m a dark roast fan. On the east coast I like www.oldcitycoffee.com if you order 5lbs of coffee, you get  a free 6th pound and shipping is free. They have a really great selection and have detailed pictures of their beans so you can judge  specific roast levels.

Do you have a favorite coffee roaster/supplier?

Looks awesome @neph93 Great to see it in the wild!
.     Exactly what he said. Measurements just didn’t work for me,but in light of me selling my OD TypeIII,I would have bought this. Have to live vicariously through you.

That is fantastic. A term that I’ve occasionally heard, that I’m not really sure of,or if it in any way pertains to IH,is Deadstock. I get the impression that it’s something that I should think is cool, but I’m not sure why.

No worries, just hoping that someday that denim finds it’s way to a vest/shirt/jacket/or CPO.
