Rucking

Hello IH community!
I was interesting in seeing how many of you involved in this subculture are also involved with the subculture of rucking?
Pulling straight from the GORUCK website:
_RUCK•ING [VERB] carrying a weighted pack on your back. It implies action, energy, and purpose.
Rucking is the foundation of Special Forces training. Green Berets are well versed in shouldering heavy rucks through cities, mountains, jungles and deserts, in war and in peace – alone when they must, together whenever possible. Rucking requires strength, endurance, and character -- and builds it, too.
Note: Hiking is rucking in the mountains, urban hiking is simply called rucking. Rucking can be done at any weight._
Anyways, I am a fan of the goruck products and have gotten into rucking over the past few months. And I was wondering how many of you out there are also ruckers? any grt?
Looking forward to see if anyone is local too, maybe we can ruck sh•t up if you are in the SF/Bay Area.

I have a 10 pound plate and a 20 and a 30. I am walking 1.5 to 2 hours daily. The 10-20 pounds is really great. 30 is still way too much for longer term at the moment. I really recommend this to add to your walks. It has certainly helped me improve my gait, especially on uphills. Got another goruck rucker and plates for my dad. He loves it too.

That sounds awesome man! I kept tweaking my knees and ankles after training and loading on miles/weight, so suffice it to say that I am on a hiatus. But perhaps i shall circle back round to it. I have 2 GR1s, and one Rucker.

If you want to dork out on bulletproofing knees and ankles, I have gone deep down that rabbit hole. I would recommend a balance beam, mobo board, and a slow, progressive move toward more minimalist footwear. That will not be popular with all the boot guys here, but I am rarely in my boots these days. My back and hips and gait have improved dramatically. The key is that you have to progress slowly. PM me if you want some resources that I have found useful. I hope your knees and ankles improve in short order. I think the rucking may be a sound part of recovery down the line. Forgive the rant.
