Don‘t get me wrong, I really like Mike‘s stuff.
But IMO this cut works as „original“ Wills Jacket but neither as leather nor as denim jacket...
Looks sort of weird to me...

I had the same initial reaction.  I showed it to my wife and she didn't care for the top-pockets.  Then I looked at some of the pics that he put on their Instagram and I kinda warmed up to it.  I like the idea of a chore coat, something with lots of pockets that's not too fitted, not too heavy, but still tough.  And we're all here because we like denim, between the way it fades and how well it breathes.  So why not both?

I have too many jackets.  The only way I can justify another is if it's a classic jacket, something that's not going to go out of style in a few years.  This is where I was a little on the fence about this jacket.  It's nice, but it's different.  Will I still like it in ten years?  I think so.

And I have to admit that part of the decision was based on the fact that I just like Ship John as a company and I want to support them.

Me either! I also thought about ordering one. Import to Germany adds another 50% on the price tag so things should be well-thought. I really like my original Wills. And I like Mike‘s stuff (Guthries and a Townes V2 are on their way). But at the end I came to the conclusion that the Wills denim will just be „no. 2“ with respect to the original. For me it would be a nice-to-have but it wouldn’t get that attention it deserves...

Guthrie tan work jeans and Townes western V2 came in today - great stuff from Mike!
Will post one or two pics in due course. The Guthries have the guts to become my favorite pants  8)

Those looked great! If my thighs could've fit in them without the waist looking like a pair of clown pants, I definitely would have picked up a pair.

yes, they‘re really slim. I opted for the #2 version which is supposed to be more „roomy“ but even this is on the slim side like a 666-cut. Can‘t imagine the #1 cut... Twiggy?
Anyway, the cut below the knee is gorgeous - not really a boot cut but close...

Thanks all!
Yes, the fabric of the Guthries is fantastic. I expect a nice creasing and stacking.
I went for size 34 in the pants. It‘s a 36 waist. Initial one hour cold soak led to about 1/3 inch shrinkage but easily stretched back to 36. Ellen was so nice to give me the „real“ measurements - very nice service there.
I had the unhemmed but 36.5 was too long since I don‘t want to fold it. Now it‘s 34.5 inseam.
The shirt is an XL. Still has some room to wear it over another shirt as a light jacket. It‘s not as thightly cut as IH shirts but I like it this way.
With IH I am size 44 in jackets & shirts and 36 in pants.

I love those @jay-cy
I have a pair in my basket on the Ship John website, but VAT, duty and carriage is brutal and I’ve stalled.
