Hi @Giles I found that the product Description is confusing. It says Giles wears XL.
My Jacket is a  Size M. If I compare it with my yesterday arrived Size XL IHJ-54 ((Giles wears also XL) i would say they are pretty similar in every Reason. Measurements and Feeling of the Size. Could you please double check. Just for other customers.

Anyone handled or own the IHJ-54 or IHJ-35 in addition to this jacket?  I know the difference in quality of leather is likely in favor of the IHJ-54 has those action bi-swing action (gussets?).  I could see myself enjoying this Simmons Bilt jacket if it were a lighter, springtime type jacket which is easy and casual to throw on. Either of the Japanese built jackets look a little bit more like tanks... but the leather ranges between 1.2 and 1.6 mm so it can't be that bad... Anyone owning both surprised that they reach for the lesser expensive Simmons more often than either the IHJ-54.

The IHJ-54 would probably be an XXL for me just as nearly every IH shirt fits me as an XXL.  This Simmons jacket looks like it's been sized very large and I'd probably need a Large.

Just curious what people's perspectives are.

BrianA I own the three jackets you're comparing and they are all fantastic. The way I see it: Wear them open over a T and it's a spring jacket and zip it up over a sweat or flannel and it's a winter jacket.

However I haven't actually reached for any of them this winter as I have been trying to stick to my IHJ-77 indigo serge work jacket until it shows some decent wear. This is a nice spring jacket for sure, although extinct.

I love the smell texture and the fact that this jacket has it’s own personality...the insect bites and scars on the arm. If you want a leather jacket to wear get this one. If you want a leather jacket to stay in your wardrobe don’t. It’s really difficult to capture its beauty with a phone camera.

This is an all rounder I have a tight fitting cafe racer and another motorcycle leather jacket but seem grab and wear this one the most because it’s so comfortable. It’s a little bit too big on me but that’s where I can layer it up remember leather jackets aren’t the warmest things in winter. I’ve also had people shout across the pub saying nice leather jacket mate.

I really like this jacket, but I worry that it may be too short. I’d feel a lot more confident buying it if it were just at couple of centimeters longer.

And I wonder a bit about sizing. Looking at the numbers it seems a bit wide compared to most other IH leather jackets, but I can see Giles wearing his usual size, and that looks great. I have an IH western shirt in size XXXL, which fits fine, would I likely be ok by going for an XXL in this?

Finally, how does the leather compare to the IHJ-54? Based on forum posts I have the impression that this leather is softer and lighter, and that it’ll fade with little contrast being veg tanned. How durable is it? I’ll just be wearing it casually, but saw somewhere that veg tanned leathers shouldn’t be worn in rain, is there something about that?

I realize that I may just have to take the chance and order it - I just prefer to avoid the hassle of having to return it…
