IH not harder wearing than others?
-
Am probably going to upset a lot of people now, but..
I wear jeans pretty hard. My previous record for a pair of jeans is 9 months (tied between a pair of raw LVC and the first batch of Acne) before the crotch thinned out and developed a hole.
I was very happy when I found out about IH, as I thought I finaly found some good quality denim. I own two pairs of: 643S and 9301. But they have not kept up their promise: the 643S was so thinned out in the crotch after only six months (washed every other month) that they are considered retired. The 9301 is on their fourth month (three washes total) and the crotch have blown here - I mean two babyfist-sized holes, the crotch looking like a birdsnest.
Is anybody else hesitant about IH-quality? If I put a lot of money in 21oz denim I want it to last. IH didn't even last longer than "regular jenas".
Sorrry, but can't recommend them

Best thread ever?

Curious why your jeans are so prone to crotch blow outs.
how tight do you wear your jeans?
do you ride bikes and run/jog in them? -
I wear them tight (Scandinavian…).
Do bike, but only to and from work.

Captain, you seem to be an anomaly with your Iron Heart experience.
I love your forthrightness, but would like to see pictures and a bit more information on sizing & what the items were used for before pitching my two cents.

Please post some pics on and off you.

Pics coming when I locate a camera good enough for good macros. Until then thers a fit pic of the 643S in my avatar.

how dya wear out yer 634s crotch in 6months,,,,ya got sandpaper on yer bikeseat, shame they thinned out,,but u must have beat the shit out of them
Actually changed my bikeseat to new smooth leather one as I first suspected it to trash my jeans.
I've also been told that waiting too long between washes is bad for jeans (the grime and dirt being abrasive), but two months between washes (until broken in) is not extremely long, seems that most of do follow a similar washing pattern.

I have worn a pair of IH for 365 days straight, including biking, working and what ever it is one can do wearing jeans.
The only damage to the crotch is one tiny hole, basically caused by abrasion , which is normal.Thinner denim such as LVC is also more flexible and will not be affected by abrasion from walking or sitting on a bike saddle as much as a heavier, stiffer denim.
That being said, I wore FH , SC and am also quite familiar with LVC denim, and I've witnessed them falling apart way faster than my IH's…

u must have the biggest wedding tackle going,,didnt realize 634s got that tight in the crotch area, mine are a 31 waist,,and i got plenty of dangleberry space, but my DC4001s are a differnet matter lol,the waiting a long time b4 washing aint that good fer the jeans, they jus need soaking everynow and again, shame to hear that yer 634s are sufferin

Another thing I've noticed is that the warp and weft is rather loosely wound compared to other denim, so that when a hole develops, the warp/weft is unravelling much faster than ordinary denim.
-
The one small hole I had - and fixed by placing a patch of denim on the inside - stayed about the same size for another 3 months. In other words - weaving extremely solid.

Oh, btw , Captain, would be great to see some pics of the jeans you're talking about…

I, too, am surprised by LVC outlasting IH, generally speaking… My pair of SB denim is holding up like a champ through all kinds of abuse, including cycling.
