Am I an M or an L?

I cant decide.....I'm 6 feet slim, 160Lbs, 40' in most things.....advise please.
Like A said tons of variables, but I'd lean towards medium. IH outerwear tends to fit larger than shirting. Fit pics of the IH crew and forum regulars helps. I'm 5'11 165lbs and have tons of layering room in my medium--IHM-14v2 (could flirt w/small, but swim in a large).

thanks guys......standard daily wear for me is t-shirt & sweat....leaning towards a medium.  Happy with a more fitted look.

I'd go M

thanks Giles!  May I ask about the measurements quoted on the IH site for a size Medium?

shoulders: 17.2 - this seems quite narrow, but looking at the photos it appears that the arms travel into the shoulder area if you know what I mean - hence the arm length being quoted as 27.3.......does the sleeve length compensate for the narrow shoulders?

thanks in advance

As a general rule, this is true - yes. Shoulders and sleeve combine to give an overall neck to wrist fit, one can compensate for the other but the shoulder seam will only sit where the shoulder measurement suggests it will

thanks great info!  I've bought and sold 3 ill fitting deck jackets in the past few years, so I am trying to do due diligence.  A green size 38 RMC N1 was just a fraction too small, but it looked great!  A Freewheelers N1 tagged as a 40 was smaller than the aforementioned RMC.  And a navy BR N1, size L was too baggy all around.  I am looking for something that fits just right!  I could go for an RMC in a 40, but I fancy trying an IHN1, I love the D shaped pockets, the colour and absence of USN stencils.

just watched the 'how we measure' video, I did not know that was the way to measure shoulder width.

Very pleased for you. The IH shoulder measuring needs to be adopted across the board.
Get ahead, go figure, go ahead and pull the trigger,

It''s actually not the IH way.  It is the way all Japanese workshops do it.  We adopted it to lessen the chances of lost in translation FUBAR's

What temperature range do you all think this is suitable for if only wearing with a t-shirt or single light layer?

Down to about 5 centigrade if you’re keeping active.
