This is definitely a Pandemic Madness Question but I wonder if you could wax this jacket, how that would take, what it would involve, and if that is just plain stupid.
You could wax it. It may take OK. Chino is a fairly even, tight weave normall, but is also smooth. Canvas is the normal choice for a waxing. Canvas is a tight and even, but has more of a texture. I don’t know if that plays a role in how the wax adheres to the fabric. It may well do. As for how to do, heat a tub of wax brush it on and dry it it the standard way.
One thing, as this is a type II and has pleats, seams and pockets out the kazoo, it may be a difficult job to do well.
