Equivalent Iron Heart Denim Fit Suggestions
-
I recently got a pair of Ruttloff denim: https://ruttloff-denim.de/kollektion/
I went with the H3-2017 model and you can find the measurements here: https://ruttloff-denim.de/masstabelle/
The closest Iron Heart that I could find which has more or less the same measurements is the 666s, but after owning one, I did not find that much comfortable to my size. This H3 from Ruttloff fits me very perfectly. I guess there is a difference in trying out the denims in the shop and wearing them all day long. So what happened was, when I tried the 666s at the shop, it was fitting very perfectly and I bought it. But later after wearing it for a couple of days, the fabric stretched and I was not finding them comfortable anymore. I even asked a few questions here in the forum to see if I can get it altered. But nevertheless, I realised that it just comes to finding the proper fit. I was out shopping for a new pair of Selvedge denim and came across this denim from Ruttloff garments. Looking at the pictures of the H3 model, I thought that it could be the perfect fit for me and I headed to a local retailer nearby who was keeping stock of the H3 in size 31. I tried it and as usual it was perfect. Not so big, not so small. Just about right! So after wearing it for almost a week now I'm convinced that the measurements of this denim and the thickness of this denim is my holy grail. It just fits me like a glove.
So my question is what is the Iron Heart equivalent in terms of measurements and fir that compares one on one with the Ruttloff H3? Would be interested to know!

It’s very hard to make comparisons like this I’m afraid. There is no surety that the measurements are taken the same way, and what happens between the measurements is often very different. Finally there will always be some difference based on material, construction and basic design.
From the pictures and description of the Rutloffs I’d say that the 666 is the nearest match. If you found the 666s perfect to begin with and then too loose after wear, then sizing down one will probably work. If this is the old 18oz denim then it should also shrink with a hot wash.

Is there a 666 in the 14 oZ range?

Of course everyone's different, but in terms of comfort the 14oz OD (and presumably the non-OD as well) is extremely comfortable in 666 to me.
I don't mind pretty heavy, scratchy jeans, so I find the vintage 18oz comfortable too, but the 14oz is more comfortable still, at least at this stage for each of them.

I will echo what mclain mentioned above. I own the 14 oz OD denim in the 777s cut. The denim is easily the softest I have ever felt.
Like Neph said, if you take issue with the 666s fit after the stretch I would size down one size as they should then hit the sweet spot after a few wears.
