We realized last Friday that it had been 5 years to the day since our first date. The IH henley and hoodie I'm wearing here (and most of my IH gear) are much older than that. Now we have a daughter who will be 1 in a couple of weeks. I didn't think I was going to get married or have a kid (or even wanted one) when I met Brandi, but here we are.
For our first date, I suggested a restaurant I was keen to try that was also on Brandi's list, and we hit it off right away. We then went to a bluegrass show and had the best time. It's been very natural ever since, and becoming ever harder to remember what it was like not having her around. That's unusual for me, because I generally tire of people, even when I'm quite fond of them, but I rarely feel like I need alone time away from her (I am an introvert and easily annoyed). Even more remarkably, she hasn't tired of me (in addition to being easily annoyed, I am easily annoying) and also enjoys spending a lot of time together. We haven't stopped talking to each other and making each other laugh since, and what we didn't have in common before, we've mostly grown to have in common now.
Here we are taking a walk at sunset in our local park with Hattie last Friday, shortly after realizing the first date anniversary was that day.
