Breakin process?
-
Is there a commonly accepted method for breakin? 21oz jeans wearing all the time seems to work. What about the 526L? Simply wearing it may not have the same effect and feels like it would need some help. Or should I just suck it up and wear it until its time for first wash?

My recommendation would be to get it wet. Jackets do not endure the same stress as jeans and so they will not evolve as quickly, you are right. The help you are asking about would be a quick soak. Hot water if you want to shrink a bit, warm if you don’t mind either way. Soaking then hang drying, then wearing while damp until dry is the way to begin a significant denim art project

It is the OG “shrink/crease to fit” mentality. Otherwise, you can just wear it as is. Mind you, the creases that you will achieve will be minimal and not as sharp. And it will take a while before you feel like it’s “yours”. I recommend soaking and wearing, but that is a steep slope and not practical for all lifestyles. That being said, IT IS A NO LOSE SITUATION. This is an iron heart jacket and it will be great no matter what

This is totally sound advice and well described. After doing exactly this with my jacket, it feels perfect for my body. It reminds me of action figures I had when I was a kid that had rubber/plastic jackets the fit the toy perfectly.
It kind of sucks wearing a damp heavyweight jacket, but it is 100% worth it.

“Damp” is subjective. As long as it’s not dry it’s “damp”. Me and @Oaktavia are hardcore. You get what you give as they say

Awesome everyone. Thanks.

@seven_bacon Wear, don't care, don't compare. You can't really go wrong.
Welcome to the forum BTW!

I've warned my wife that some jacket weirdness will be happening, but she reminded me that the crazy train left the station years ago.

This will get worse, I promise. I've been at this for six years yet still found myself in a backroom of the house with a pair of soggy jeans and a car jack recently. I still don't remember how I got there….

“It’s not what you think, I swear. It’s art!!!”

Totally acceptable behavior @neph93 you don't have a problem

Unfortunately, you can’t be told what the Iron Heart is. You have to see it for yourself…

OK hour or so soak and awkward damp wear plus half a day dry time. I think if someone body punches me in this, they'll have shredded and bloody knuckles.

Jupp… that will wear off, in a few weeks
