I noticed that no one had posted in this thread so thought I'd add a few comments as I really enjoyed the few days that I spent in Yokohama.

Yokohama is a very pleasant port city with a notable history of contact and interaction with cultures and people from outside of Japan.  If you've spent time in Tokyo and Osaka and need a break from all the craziness, noise and madness of these megacities but don't won't to go to the countryside, Yokohama is not a bad option.

Among its attractions, Yokohama has a great Chinatown.  It's the largest Chinatown in Japan and has a good range of food options at very reasonable prices.  I was lucky enough to have a local Chinese-Japanese friend take me there for dinner.  I also enjoyed walking alongside the water and around the city's main port area.  There are a number of cafes and restaurants to be found by the waterfront and its a great place to take a break from walking and rest your legs.  If you're not exhausted from shopping before arriving in Yokohama, in the Motomachi area there are a number of small vintage shops that are worth checking out.  They're not too difficult to find, just walk along the main strip and keep your eyes open.  Finally, if it's your thing, check out the Cup Noodle Musuem.  Yes, that's right.  They have a museum dedicated to explaining the history, manufacturing techniques and genius behind cup noodles.  When I went there it was packed with kids who apparently love the place.

This was taken not too far from the water along one of the main streets in Yokohama.
