Hey,
The two shirts I had my eye on were the Military Serge Western and the Selvedge Chamray Western. It goes without saying, these are major investments, for sure want to get the fit right!
Thanks everyone for the input and help... the quest continues for the perfect IH shirt!

Drop an email to shop@ironheart.co.uk.  The guys who work there are fucking pretty good at nailing fits for people - it's their job :-)

Hi guys... New to the forum, been lurking for some time, finally decided to post. I’m a total noob so forgive the dumbass question (I hear the mods around here are miserable sods).

Will gently hand washing denim at very cool temps (30C or even below), minimise shrinkage in jeans that still have shrinkage in left in them?

(Ok it’s me, but I really don’t know the answer to this...help).

Which dimension are you most concerned about shrinkage? I’ve found that even hand washing in cold water the garment, after air drying will tighten up a little, but zero change in sleeve or inseam length. If I’ve had beers, cheeseburgers and ice cream, then they tighten up a little more.

I do gentle (wool) cycles and hang dry and even my raws have reacted minimally to that.
Think it, be it.

@Jett129 This is with regards to the smaller pair of PIHAN10T I was wearing the other day. I think you’re right that cheeseburgers and ice cream are a greater threat than shrinkage Tit is the thigh/knee I’m most concerned about. I’ll tolerate the regular 2% drying at it will stretch out, but a bigger size reduction (smaller than og measurements) will be toughe to work with without corsetry.

@mclaincausey  thank you. That was the conclusion I was reaching myself (and what I wanted to hear).

Yes, cold handwashes will minimize the shrinkage for the first wash for sure.
But when shrink is still left in the fabric, future washes will always shrink them a bit more. Although you probably won't reach "full shrinkage" ever with only cold hand washes.

If shirts are rubbing in your armpits, would that be attributed to wearing a shirt with too narrow of a shoulder width?
