We are child free and having a night stopover in London this weekend to see this amazing gal Julien Baker at Shepherds Bush Empire, then Son of Stag and Sunday Upmarket.

If you live with, or know someone who lives with mental health issues she will cut to your core...

Dang, I feel old. ^^Mogwai was the last band I saw live back in '08 for the Hawk Is Howling tour.

@gaseousclay I am more selective when booking gigs these days. When I played in bands I went to shows 3 times a week. I'd rather be with my family these days.

Last year the best gigs I attended were Swans, Slowdive, Natalie Merchant, Iron Maiden, Ani Difranco. Later this year we are off to see Slowdive support The War on Drugs...It will be euphoric!

I'm in a similar boat...i'd rather spend time with my son these days. However, my concert attendance fell off a cliff when I first met my ex. She absolutely hated the music I listened to (anything with loud guitars) and even called into question why I needed so many records and cd's  ??? Never thought in a million years that i'd have to explain to someone that my love of music is why I have a record collection.

I really dig what these guys are doing.  Obviously very much influenced by classic rock and very Zeppelin esque, but probably one of the more original sounding bands I've heard in a long time.  They sound great live as well which is always a bonus.  Singer has a great voice.  I believe they are out of Michigan.

While we're on the topic of great lesser known midwest rock bands, I offer Cincinnati's own Buffalo Killers. 8)

All The Young Dudes is definitely in my all time top ten...

Love this version.  Particularly like Bowies intro which includes the line, "....tried not to wear the same clothes......slept with the same people - I think....."

"OK face up to it - you're useless but generally pretty honest and straightforward . . . it's a rare combination of qualities that I have come to admire in you" - Geo 2011

Beatiful @bryaneidins !

I am unfortunately at the basement at the moment. Surviving, till I can recapture the living room again.
Kids are ten now, not far to go ;-).

@bryaneidins  argh!!! No!!! Lofts and sheds are the enemy of vinyl. The variations in temperature even in insulated lofts can cause mold in the grooves. PLEASE check every record before you play it. It can ruin needles and stylus.

I'll have to post a close up of my hi fi soon.

@bryaneidins70  that was great, I just wish black thought had been there instead of Malik B. I think it shows just how well ll's lyrics have stood the test of time. I still preferred Malik B's delivery and flow. Old cats just have better rhythm.
