Self Edge Graphic Series T-Shirt #16 & Studio D'Artisan's Indigo-Check Flannel

This week we have a new Self Edge Graphic Series t-shirt and an indigo-dyed winter flannel from Studio D'Artisan.

#16 in our Graphic Series is a collaboration with Brooklyn based artist Rachel Hayden. Rachel’s paintings speak to us; her use of inanimate object-characters are exactly what we need to fill our lives. She asked us to title the piece for her and we came up with Eight Locked Dimensions, a reference to the Ancient Greek language’s eight words for love. Philia, eros, pragma, storge, ludus, agape, mania, & philautia. Unlock them all. Along with the t-shirt we’ve done a small run of holographic die-cut stickers, each t-shirt comes with one of these stickers while supplies last.

Studio D’Artisan’s new indigo-dyed check winter flannel is here. This new shirt is made of a pure indigo-dyed cotton yarn which gives the flannel a unique shade of blue which will change over time as the flannel becomes worn in and washed.

You can now find both of these items online and at our five stores.

Warehouse Winter Collection

Warehouse’s “5-Hydroxy-Tryptamine” flannel is here. This shirt is part of Warehouse's winter flannel collection, which are their heaviest and softest flannels they produce. These are double brushed on the interior so they're soft on the inside and the weave pattern has a nice three dimensional depth; this is up there with the best flannels coming out of Japan.

We also have Warehouse pile cotton winter socks. These socks are fully piled and have excellent cushioning and heat retention so that they can be worn with heavy-duty boots or sneakers. In order to prevent the scratching that tends to occur in thick socks, Warehouse uses a technique called "toe linking" so that the seams do not hit the wearer's toes.

Warehouse loopwheeled sweaters are back and now available in oatmeal or salmon. These are some of the highest quality sweats we’ve seen coming out of Japan.  You can find all these items now online and at all stores.

New Jeans & Loopwheeled Hoodies from Iron Heart

This week we have slubby denim, 25oz denim, and new loopwheeled hoodies from Iron Heart.

Iron Heart’s first truly slubby denim has arrived. Their new in-house developed 16oz slub cotton denim is perfect for those who’ve wanted an Iron Heart jean with a denim that ages over time with an intense slub pattern. The denim clocks in at 16oz per square yard, has been lightly sanforized and lightly rinsed, and we’re proud to have it available in their classic 634 straight leg fit.

Iron Heart comes through with the heaviest denim they produce in our most popular silhouette, the straight tapered 633. This 25oz denim feels amazing, especially considering the weight, and fades very nicely due to the pronounced creasing it holds over time.

We also have very nice loopwheeled hoodies in a new burgundy color. These are built to last, are super warm and soft, and have a true loopwheeled fleece which has a nice “grain” to it from the loopwheeling processing.

3sixteen x Schott Type 3s Jacket - Copper Roughout Cowhide

We have a super hot release this week from 3sixteen as part of their yearly collaboration with New York’s original leather jacket company, Schott.

3sixteen worked with Schott to develop a leather version of their Type 3s denim jacket, complete with their signature crossed back yoke, clean waistband, modified body length, and added hand pockets.  They've used a medium weight copper cowhide roughout with some subtle variation and nep throughout for added character.  These jackets have custom YKK gunmetal two-prong shanks, are fully black satin lined, and have an inner chest pocket.

You can find these jackets now at all of our stores and online is very limited numbers.

Samurai Makoto Selvedge Jeans and ZERO FABRIC Soybean Dyed T-Shirts

This week we have two jeans from Samurai and their ZERO FABRIC t-shirts in a new black soybean dyed version.

The new S140SXJ-GRK jean from Samurai is a limited edition model with some truly interesting accents, mostly hidden on the inside of the jean. Very special pocket bags, three different types of buttons, a tri-colored selvedge ID, all in their new relaxed tapered fit made of an unbelievably nice 18oz textured denim.

We also have Samurai’s S211VX jean. These are made of Samurai's custom Benkei denim which consists of a special 6x5 twill weave developed exclusively for this model. This level of texture in denim is something Samurai has been doing before most Japanese brands and has been a hallmark of the brand since its inception in 1997.

Samurai’s ZERO FABRIC t-shirts are now available in a kuromame dyed “black” color. This new run of tees has been given a long bath in a locally grown kuromame (black soybean) “soup” to achieve this dark charcoal color.

Samurai has done a crazy but beautiful thing.. In 2010 they bought a small farm outside Osaka, Japan, with the hopes they would be able to grow their own cotton with the intention of one day being able to make garments made of their own cotton, as in a truly vertically made garment. After eleven years they've been able to grow enough cotton to make t-shirts and of course they're as beautiful as the story behind them. The cotton is minimally processed in very small batches without the use of any harsh cleaning or whitening agents, also all fractured cotton seeds and all staple lengths are left in the cotton during the carding and spinning process for a truly unique fabric. We can really say we’ve never felt or seen a cotton jersey like this from any company. These are now available in very small numbers at our stores.

Kei Shigenaga Rei Ring & Ryu Necklace

We have two new pieces of jewelry from Kei Shigenaga this week, the Rei ring and the Ryu necklace and pendant.

The Ryu necklace was inspired by two Japanese carps swimming together. The ancient Japanese tale says a carp swims upstream to become a dragon, which is known as "ryu" in Japanese, hence the name of the necklace. Melted 18k gold is poured into the two scars on the carps' heads, which tells the story of the carp trying its best to chase its dream to become a dragon. The design is a homage to traditional Japanese Kintsugi which is an artistic method to repair broken pottery with gold, to give the crack a new life. The chain is finished with a branded solid 18k yellow gold "tag".

We also have the Rei ring; the ring's yellow gold accent is not gold plated, this is a solid sterling silver ring with 18k gold poured into the “crack”. These are just beautiful, are finished with such high detail, and are super comfortable. These rings go through countless hours of hand finishing and polishing to achieve the look and feel you'll see when you put this ring on. Pretty unreal attention to detail in both the shape and oxidation points of these rings.
