I took the Thruxton up to Benalla, which is about 220 km (135 miles) from where I live, and back again at the weekend.
After that I figured that it's not a good bike for long distances: too cramped and no luggage capacity.
So I dropped by the local BMW dealership to find something more practical. Oh, look, an RnineT Racer with a custom paint job...

And the new S1000RR, which possibly felt more comfortable than the Thruxton.

Meanwhile, what I should have been looking at is the K1600B, but I don't think that I'm old enough to get one of those yet. It did feel like an armchair on two wheels, though.
