That’s a great Veil beer.

Triple Crossing and Aslin last night.

You know that feeling you get after you've been drinking steadily for several hours, and you take a sip of beer and you are absolutely certain that if you take one more sip, you are definitely, positively going to puke?

Yeah, that's the feeling I got after the first sip of this:

Weirdest sensation I've ever had; it's not that it tastes bad, but somehow my body utterly rejected it at almost a cellular level.  I tried it twice, months apart, once after a couple of other beers and once completely sober. Same reaction both times.

Hypothesis: it's because guava has a musky note that doesn't play well with lactose. I bet that stuff tastes like cat barf.
Think it, be it.

I checked some reviews, Chris, and it very much seems to be a beer one either really likes, or utterly hates... If I ever come across it, I'm definitely trying it though...  :D

You should, just because my reaction was so bizarre. That can't be normal.

Of course, if Belgian customs wasn't what it is, and if I hadn't dumped the other two cans of it that I had in the pantry, I'd be sending them to you tomorrow...

Lactose does it for me. I stay away, except for a few of the OH Dream beers. Lactose doesn’t get fermented. That’s why it’s used. Are there other beers you like with Lactose?

Yeah, lots. Lactose definitely isn't the problem.  On the other hand, I used to dislike IPAs, but that's become such an expansive category that it almost has no meaning any more.  I think I'm going through some sort of full scale sea change in my taste preferences. I used to like stouts and porters, but lately, they've all tasted unpleasant.  Too much smokiness; it's like licking an ashtray, which isn't the experience I want in a beer.

Nothing but stouts, so far, this week. First two are a new-to-me brewery. Revolution Brewing, out of Chicago. Limited releases, both were quite nice. Though, at $7 per 12oz can, they are a bit pricy. I definitely preferred the coffee version.....

Tonight's selection, from my favorite local brewer.....
