Mental Policies
« on: November 13, 2011, 09:19:39 pm »
Inspired by gbougard in the quote below:

I have some unwritten mental policy on not posting more pics than the number of times I've worn the clothes :)

Now that is yet another mental policy (in France we call this disorder, but hey...). I think we should definitely start a topic in the general topic section listing our mental "policies", we IH'ers might not be too numerous, but I have a suspicion we are long on mental "policies"...

i'll get the pill line going. besides being mad all the time, i have to sleep on the left side of the bed & have to have toilet paper rolls facing up when placed on the roll.

what mental policies do you hold near & dear?

Would this be akin to "pet peeves"?

If so, mine are rude people. If I speak to you, speak back, even if its one word.

Pet peeves (non-OCD/ monday behaviour):

- knee bulges
- pet hairs on clothing

Also sleeping on the left for me.

I have a thing for punctuality, I have to be on time for everything, being late kills me. I kind of have a mental schedule for everything I do, an amount of time that everything should take, and if things run over time I get stressed.

I would think that mental policies are things that *you* do for some philosophical/internal reason whereas things that others do that annoy you are pet peeves, maybe Paul9221/gbougard can clarify this. I have a mental policy of not getting annoyed by minor things -- life is too short and the universe is oblivious.

are you saying shoe boxes exist for the purpose of storage of shoes after they are purchased?

After reading these I feel normal here.

Left side of the bed, absolutely, toilet paper from top, household paper, (is that correct term?) always from the left side when the roll is upwards, never ever squeeze the toothpaste in the middle, and hell yeah, gives me creeps when I'm late, even for 5 min. maybe some more, but these I can think right now.

- Left shoe, then right.

- Left side of bed (sorry Monday, we can't have a sleep-over :/ )

- Must have music on public trans.

- You will, and I repeat, you will _not_ get on the bus before I get off.

Seize the day and don't you cry.

Me too... That's saying quite a lot...

I would, however, pay good money to see Lucifer come charging out of a bus ;D

Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet

i find it hard to sit down anywhere when i am not aware of exists or facing the door to see who is coming in the joint.  it's so ingrained in me that someone had to actually tell me about my always doing it before i realized it & wrote it here.

A friend of mine will only sleep with his head pointing towards the door never his feet, he says only dead bodies are taken out feet first. Each to their own I suppose.
