@BloodnThunder I hear ya. Getting back to it after a few months off since I broke my arm. I’ve been hiking in the meantime, but it still hurts!

I made an apt next Monday to get the PRP shot. Im hearing lots of good things about it and should heal the rest of the petalla tendon/ tear
Right now im staying optimistic. Registration opens up for Oil Creek 100 in a month and a half. It was my first 100k and first 100M, its a truly special race and I missed last year and would like to go back. I am thinking I am going to register for the 100k or 50k. Just have to figure that out as it gets closer. I will also put my name in the lottery for NY marathon. Got in the first time then had 4 strike outs.
Going to try to ease into things and see how it goes after the shot. Thinking feb 1 I'll try running and see if im better!

One of my college teammates decided to signup for a local 5k here in Seattle in February. That snowballed into 6-7 of us former teammates all agreeing to run as well. Most of us do not run at all anymore and the others who signed up are shells of their former running selves so it'll be interesting to see how big of a disaster it is and what all of us can do now. I haven't gone on a run since August when I broke my hand in a bike race. I plan on not running a step between now and race day so I'll have a bit over 6 months of zero running. Not expecting a whole lot.

I'm a glutton for punishment. And I'm genuinely curious to see what I can run a 5k in without any actual run specific training (I'm not going in as a couch potato since I cycle everyday instead).

@BloodnThunder Off the couch 5k has a nice ring to it! You’ve got the engine for sure, even if you don’t run much or at all anymore.
@kkibbey23 Hope the appt goes well. Report back. A friend of mine had that treatment (I think) for tendon issue in her heel and it helped her. Oil Creek looks like fun, I think you mentioned it before. I’ve also looked at Eastern States for an east coast race. But we’ll see!
We are expecting our first baby at the end of February, so that will certainly add another dimension to things, particularly travel (we’re in Colorado). I’m doing some training but haven’t signed up for anything. Time will definitely be at a premium once she arrives! -
Just got back on the road last week after having an issue with my posterior tibial tendon for a few months…just got out of my street, was making a turn, stepped on a big chunk of glass, slid and rolled my ankle. Been wearing a moon boot since...

@den1mhead nice one, I'm mainly a cyclist but I've done the Bristol 10km a few times for Dorothy House. Gotta work on getting used to the extra distance! This time it'll be for Mercy in Action.

Good man running to raise money for charity. I'm guessing as a cyclist and someone who's completed a couple of 10km runs you wont find the half marathon distance too taxing.

I think I’m going to see what this is like in the spring. I’ll try to rope my 13 year old into it. It won’t be from the couch but Dec thru mid March doesn’t see much more than 5 milers around here. I could run with snow on the ground but I’d rather not. That leaves me the hamster wheel. Much more than 30 minutes of that and I’m bored to tears.

Here’s a short documentary about the Ouray 100, which I’ve run the past two years (and will likely three peat this year). It follows a runner for North Face Japan. There’s also another doc on the race on amazon prime, but I like this one a lot better.
The runner is undoubtedly talented, but the Japanese aesthetic certainly comes through, and makes the film more about man vs nature or man vs self. I thought it was pretty well done, and really captures the spirit of this race and the spirit of ultrarunning in general. -

Pretty neat. It would be fun to try one of those races sometime. I’m essential, so had work that weekend and am also not trained enough at this point.
I was inspired by Rickey Gates to try my own every single street project, and am attempting to run every single street in the city I live in- Longmont, Colorado. One of my rules that he didn’t do in San Fran (for obvious reasons) is to start and end every run from my house on the south east side of town. We’re about 100000 residents and definitely smaller than SF, so logical that he’d start from different places.
I am considering maybe having a “base” somewhere on the west side of town to start/end from, as a lot of the time/distance I do in a day can be just getting out there, let alone then running all the neighborhood streets. And of course our city isn’t built on a grid, which makes it more difficult- I can’t just do the n/s streets one day, then the e/w the next.
Anyway, he is a link to my master map. I am tracking my runs with gps, but this looks cleaner and doesn’t have repeats and you can’t tell exactly where I live!

Runners, up to anything fun lately? Virtual races? Fun running goals, prs on strava segments? Anything?
Got a pair of the Nike Wildhorse 6, which I feel pretty favorable about. Wouldn’t do 100 Miles in em, but maybe up to 100k.
Also tracked down (hopefully) a pair of the Hoka Speedgoat EVO. Went like 5 pages deep on google to find a store in Alaska still has my size. Excited to try them out, I really liked the Mafate EVO 2 last year, but these are lighter and potentially more grippy. I tried v1 of the Speedgoat when v2 came out and did not like them- definitely too narrow and I got blisters. Everything I tried gave me blisters somewhere else. So hoping these are better. Apparently they changed the fit between then and now.
