Watches - another OCD problem
-
Bit of water on an old beater like that will be fine mate
-
Damn, Giles, your post gave me arrhythmia. Glad to know that "old beater" handled the unintentional soaking with no problems.
-
Simon, the bronzo is an awesome piece! I'm praying to get a call for a 372…
In the meantime I'm just using this as a daily beater.

Because I am a prat and am used to wearing a waterproof watch, I got into the bath with this (un-waterproof) on this morning…...
I belted around to the local watch man and asked him to whip the back off. Result, no water penetration at all. I won't be doing it again in a hurry, but at least I now know, it'll deal with my stupidity better than some…....
Ouh my lord G that is one seriously nice watch.
I can't believe you went in to the Bath with it….....
-
yeah, those PP's are alright…
-
I would like to purchase a watch from the year I was born (1975).
Any recommendations?
-
Omega's are always good value !
-
Funny you should say that; I was going to suggest a Speedmaster Professional. Classic watch that can be found for a reasonable price on the secondhand market and will fit in with any setting, from wearing a tux to wearing grubby jeans.
Finding a watch with a verified build date in 1975 might be complicated, as most don't include that information clearly, and good watches don't change much from year to year (unlike cars, for instance).

5513 vintage rolex… if u like that, go older for a gilt dial. Be careful not to fall down the rabbit hole too deep lol.
-
'75?
Hmmm…....would have to be a Rolex 1675 GMT Master, Pepsi dial of course -

thats what i was thinking. you may have to settle for made around the 70s rather than specifically 1975. To get an accurate date like that usually means its really special and rare or it was bit of a flop and didnt get reproduced for the following years.

Give Wingates a call here:

It is where I buy my serious used watches…....
-
thanks for the guidance all.
i'll peak around & see what i can find.

budget not set yet, but i am trying my best to not fall down the rabbit hole Dexter referenced a few posts up
-
went to an antique auctions today just to look and had to hire a van to get everything home… this is one of them
[picture link broken]
nothing fancy but fell in love with it as soon as i saw it. No makers mark that i can see and no branding of any kind [one of the reason i liked it], its hallmarked 1918 so that's all i know for now. still runs but doesn't keep good time so need a good service and hopefully they can tell me more.

great watch Jimmy. Almost looks like a chronoswiss

Damn it, I did it again…
