888 top block with more taper / slimmer fit?
-
Hi all,
I’m quite new to the denim world, so I apologize if I’m not using the terminology correctly or if I’m suggesting something obviously dumb. Basically, I’ve now tried several IH cuts, and I’ve noticed the 888 jeans fit me the best in the top block, but the 555 and especially the 777 cuts are much more flattering from the thigh downward due to the strong taper. They both have such a low rise that I can’t really wear them without a belt, even if they fit fine (and I hate belts).
So I guess I’m wondering if there are any plans to make a model which has a similarly high rise as the 888, but (much) more taper?

There is not I am afraid. We have 5 regular cuts and we try to do them all in our regular denims, so before we even start looking at one-off denins and outlier cuts (461, 1955, 463…), that is a hell of a lot of choice.
Whilst I understand that we don't have the perfect cut for everybody, if we did, that number would tend towards the number of customers we have.

Thanks, Giles, that makes sense of course

Just need to get them tapered. I have the same problem. I need an athletic top block but a skinny bottom half.
If you’re interested in an awesome cut, I suggest Tanuki’s rSFU cut. I tripled up on that pair bc it fits me so well.

Thanks, the measurements on those sound great! Rise could be higher for my taste, but will give them a try.

I understand there can not be a cut for each customer, but I think this requested cut is very popular these days especially among young people (Pure Blue Japan has the 019 cut, Tanuki the High Tapered, Rogue Territory the Strong Tapered, etc…).
Iron Heart is by far my favourite brand. I own some 20 IH pieces. All of them are tops or accessories but for a pair of cargo shorts. But no jeans (or bottoms, other than those shorts), all openings are too wide for me. -
Yep I would vote for a 888 with tighter hem. Or a 555 with bigger thighs.
I know the 888 is popular and I do like it but always felt it failed to hit the mark of a proper tapered fit.

Late to the party and I know there's not much a chance to get another cut, but I wholeheartedly agree that a tapered fit with a slimmer leg opening as the 888 would be my favorite too.

It isnt the same block as the 888 necessarily but I’d recommend the NOLOT if the thigh measurements work. I absofrigginlutely love my pair.

I went from PBJ 019 to IH 888 exactly because I think the shape is timeless with a less aggressive taper. 888 is more gutsy.

In my opinion the 888 is perfect the way it is. I thought 634 was the perfect cut until I tried these

I second this! The fit is just perfect and might be very close to what you’re looking for.

Lowering the front rise only by 1-1.5” would make the 888 the best cut, ever. It’s pretty good as-is, but they would be so much more comfy and wearable with this one tweak. Those who love the 463 will know what I’m talking about.

I agree with this. Keep the back rise the same and lower the front.

I kind of like the extra room in the front. I sized up on my first pair and they are super comfy. I love it !

I think the 888 is pretty perfect, but by that I mean perfect for what I want out of a really comfy fit for me. Perfect cut is a incredibly subjective term.
The key with any really great pair of IH jeans is to get really close to YOUR perfect and wear the heck out of em. They only get better as they truly become yours.
However, it is really really fun to keep exploring new cuts in different denims in the hopes of your perfect becoming, well, even more perfect!
