Gustin

Since the other thread is closed, here is my answer to it nontheless:
I agree with Giles the IHUK forum being his place so he can run it like he wants it. After all he is very tolerant to let the Other Brands sub alive and let us talk about all the other stuff we think is relevant to us.
Several years ago, when I nearly only posted about Samurai I was in the same position like 4C is now. But Giles let me post as I liked and I think that was very fair of him.

Any thoughts on the brand?..
I have a pair from their 1st kickstarter campaign, it was novel at the time and I wanted something to be a part of a new delivery method.

As you might notice, my tongue is so firm in cheek in my post, that it is actually sticking out on the other side…

wanting to change the world is a thing, a ambitious one…. but you are going to get measured on goods, not on words in this business.... so a long way to go imo

My understanding is that the Gustin forum doesn't allow any non-Gustin discussion (I could be wrong, I don't really care to find out).
Many props to Giles and the IH forum for letting this thread, and all the other non IH brand threads, carry on (even when painful to watch).

AFAIK (and I've NOT looked into it @ all). They were the first to make it big doing kickstarter denim. They started (or brought masses of attention to) and entirely new method of R&D and manufacturing.

Yes, maybe we were all a bit harsh… Im sure my obsession with flat head outdoes 4c and gustin, and I've never gotten any flack.
But to be fair id probably also just post in a flat head forum if there was one...

Two things. 1) I bought an early pair of the normal 16oz "heavy" from the posted measurements. Seemed like a good deal. Couldn't even get it buttoned. They offered me credit, were very nice about it, but I never looked again at anything offered. 2) As far as IH boards and Giles doing what he wants–absolutely. The great thing about this forum (all of it), is everyone has a passion for IH stuff or they wouldn't have found their way here--and so you get to be exposed to thoughts from people you know know share at least something with, and then can go decide on your own. Nothing better than that...Thanks G (and fellow boarders) for the variety of opinions expressed here.

In September last year I went to San Francisco and actually paid Gustin a visit. Once a week you can drop by their office and try on/ buy leftover stock from returns or extras they make. It was nice meeting and visiting with the team behind the brand. For me as a business student, it was even more interesting to talk about their business concept.
Unfortunately I didn't find any denim that caught my eye that day and their shirting sizing wasn't for me either. I did like their heavyweight belts though and ended up ordering the "Brown Heavyweight Belt" early November when it came back online. It's a little over 0.5cm thick which I hardly notice when wearing it. The belt shipped five weeks later for 59 USD + 5 USD shipping (U.S. domestic).I think overall the brand is a great way to get into denim on a lower price point and if some "move up" to other brands, everybody wins. A friend of mine ended up ordering a pair and is content with it (despite the quick fading after only one wash). He is looking at other brands now such as Iron Heart, 3sixteen, etc. Probably wouldn't have happened without Gustin (and me ) sparking his interest in Denim.
I am still practicing on my photography skills as part of my internship with IH next month so here it goes… Enjoy!

Got my #110 Japanese 9oz selvedge duck today. Fit is spot on, pockets are nicely sized, the material is really light, comfy and seems like they will take abuse. Can't wait to put some work on these.
