IHSH-386-RED - 5oz Selvedge Short Sleeved Western Shirt - Red Vintage Check
Our short sleeved western shirt cut, made from a lightweight 5oz selvedge cloth featuring a 1970s inspired check pattern. Blending a rich palette of reds and black, the yarns are reactive dyed for maximum vibrancy. However, by using a newly developed reactive dyeing technique, we’re able to utilise these deep shades whilst also allowing the colours to mature and fade as if they were sulphur dyed. Complemented by tonal stitching and pearl snap fastenings, the result is an eye catching summer shirt with more than a hint of retro style.

Sizing on both westerns running larger for given sizes than typical for westerns - closer to a work cut.
-
Heath (6'1 & 165lbs) in a size L, which is his typical size.
-
Also, tattoo reveal from @guiltyparty? Never noticed the blacked out sleeve before. Makes the red pop even more!
-
Ok total noobie question here … what does this 5oz fabric wear like? Is it suitable for hot humid climates?
-
I was going to pick up one of each color in either a work or western, but both cuts for both colors ran larger than typical for the smaller sizes - much larger than last year’s SS23 Madras releases - with even the size xs being unusually too big in the chest measurements - so unfortunately I’ll be passing on these - bummer. Hopefully these larger dimensions aren’t continuing in the future without adding a size xxs or I’ll have to find a new rabbit hole to go down.

Hey folks, looking for some support here with a fit check, on my ongoing quest to try and secure some short sleeve IH shirts.
After being in between sizes in the 359 (XL too small, XXL too big) I switched over to these 386s, as could see their XL dims were larger than the 359.
Here are pics of me wearing the 386 in this colour - what do you think? My main concern is the chest area and how you can see the shirt under slight tension when buttoned up. This was the largest chest dimension that was in stock in the XL at the time of purchase.
My regular shirt/UHF size is XXL, with some rare exceptions of XXXL. If I went up to XXL in this then I think that would resolve the chest issue, however, overall will very likely be too big.
Also thinking about the future and an inevitable wash which may mean some additional albeit very minimal shrinkage?
I am also totally open to that fact that I may be totally seeing this the wrong!
Thoughts from the community most welcome. Also posted fit pics of the other colour of this 386 in the appropriate thread. @goosehd open invitation to continue on this short-sleeved journey with me I think this fits better than the 359 XXL?

I just posted in your other thread (green) and see you bought the red as well
Fit is such a personal thing isn’t it? Feel however is not. If an item of clothing feels too tight in a certain area, that feeling is not likely to go away IMHO. Otherwise, I’d say the fit looks good on you. Maybe without a tee shirt you get a little more room to maneuver…
I have exactly the same issue with some shirts… too small in the chest, or too baggy in the body.
You might reach out to the IH team and have them take some actual measurements of the XXL for you. I was surprised how much difference there was between the measurements and the size chart.

@Brandrea thank you for your sage advice !

@long_john86 I would not size up. The pulling you see is very slight and I think would settle with time and wear. There is excess material in that area of concern (back area) and I feel that it should become less of a pull in the chest as the shirt settles.
The shoulders look spot on as well as the opening (waist). Sizing up will give you a billowy look which may be something you want to avoid.
This goes for the red and the green.

@long_john86 Just another thought: Have you tried the workshirt cut?
-
@goosehd thanks mate, much appreciated. Yes now you mention it there is some excess material at the back - what's going on there?!
Good shout with the work shirt version, I will have a look at the dimensions of it, and maybe reach out to the IH guys too
The short sleeve story continues...
