Cool. If you are worried about getting fades after a soak then don’t be. It won’t affect that at all.

One other benefit of an early soak is that if you put them on while still quite damp, then wear them for an hour or two, you will set quite sharp creases in the front and behind the knees.

You mean besides catching a terrible cold during the cold temperatures right now?  ;D
What is the difference in comfort pre and post soak? They are pretty comfortable out of the box I must say, besides that they are super stiff and do feel like wearing cardboard that is of course, with no comparison to my 21 Oz 777s.

Just kidding  ;) ... no that sounds cool, thank you so much for your answers  ;D

Go out of the house with them damp and it is on you

There is very little difference in comfort pre and post soak, assuming you can afford the half an inch smaller waist band and marginally slimmer leg. If you can’t afford it you bought a size too small.

A bit of water will not radically change the hand or feel of the denim one way or another. It will just get the shrinkage out. After one wear you won’t remember you had soaked them as any shrinkage you got will stretch back out, with the exception of the inseam.

@neph93 Oh and what is your recommendation on the initial soaking/washing? Cold soak, or cold wash in the washing machine, or even a warm wash with like 30 degrees?

@thomas01 thank you too for your answer  :)

Hot soak 30 to 45 mins in the bath... first time

Cold for less shrinkage hot is more shrinkage

Then after later you may soak again or wash the choice is your

Simple as that

I normally soak XHS in 50C water for an hour and give them some agitation at the beginning and end. A wash would be fine, but get them thoroughly wet first and don’t use a spin cycle.

The point of the soak is to remove shrinkage, a cold soak/wash won’t do as much as a warm one.

Some shrinkage will be fine, I guess. Would there still be more shrinkage later on with a later wash, if I just give them a soak in cold or 30C water?

Unless you only ever plan an doing a cold soak when they need a wash, the yes, absolutely.

This is why getting it all out first is the sensible move. It will stretch back to where they are now, everywhere except the inseam. It will just be uncomfortable for a couple of days. You are only talking about 0.5-1” in the waist  and all denim stretches 1” after a wash.

Alright ... got it  ;) ... guess a 30°C 45 minutes soak will be my go to in two weeks. I never wash my jeans any warmer than 30° anyway.

Thnx for your patience

Morning, so I did soak them after wearing them for 3 weeks now. Didn‘t soak them ice cold but cooler, not really sure how warm the water was. Could have been around 30° maybe.

I was able to stretch out the waist about 0,6 cm prior to soak within those three weeks and did get about 1,4 cm shrinkage in the waist, which is about 0,8 cm tighter than when I got them. That will be like 0,5" I guess? The inseam shrank about 2,2 cm which is almost an inch I suppose.

Now they‘re actually fitting even better. Just love those jeans. It was so funny going from the 25 Oz to my 777-142ODs while I was waiting for the other one to dry out.  :)

Thanks Jack for the help on sizing!

What do you guys think? Cuffs a little too big? Or lock and load."162CEC85-97B2-4AAB-AB20-4220AE0F172C.jpeg""8C862EC2-FE45-4189-A718-5134850F2886.jpeg"

Long time guys, but here’s a pic with my 777XHSib. I’m really out here trying these new Chelsea’s out. Rogue Territory, semi dress. First pair of laceless boots 🥾 "CE931D35-9E6A-47B8-B087-8245DC21B7FD.jpeg""4C73AA6A-2816-4DB3-B428-A81EE76A38C5.jpeg"
