Loopwheeled Sweatshirts
-
@goosehd I have about six different tops from them. Some henleys and long armed tees. For the most part I’m happy with them, but the way they differentiate their fabric qualities is unclear, their retailers have no idea about that either, so knowing what you are getting is impossible.
In addition, their sizing is all over the place. I have two long armed tees from the same season in the same style, where the L is much bigger than the XL. Sizing between different styles is a nightmare too. It got so silly I don’t bother anymore.
@neph93 – And this is why I stick with brands like IH or The Real McCoy's. I have enough on my plate without also needing to sort out wtf kinda fabric is being used and how that will effect fit lol.

Theres just so much options for Loopwheeled / Loopwheeled-like material floating around nowadays that it gets kind of overwhelming.
Been meaning to try out the Real McCoy's sweatshirts, so a trip to S&S might be in order in April (though not sure how it'll be sizing as it is all still non-contact at the moment) -
@J-IV – Well, I bought both of mine online from S&S and Mari & co. were super helpful with sizing. I snagged a Large in the 9oz raglan crew and an XL in the zip hoodie (but would prob also take a Large if not for having ordered an XL and digging the oversized nature of the fit). The chat feature on the site helps a LOT. I'd been p skeptical of Real McCoy's, but sorta sold now. Quality is nice and build is as well. Details are great.

Thanks for the info @henry_david . As with most of us here, I don't tend to deviate away from IH goods, but the Real McCoy's have always piqued my interest with their sweaters / sweats.
My surprise for this year is Warehouse. I have a Warehouse thermal which I wore a lot and the tee which I can already anticipate a lot of wear for this coming season.
-
Yeah, that's me in a nutshell, too. Most all of my high qual stuff is IH. Buying these was my first major departure and I did so with some trepidation. Ah yes, Warehouse… I hear really good things, @J-IV.

Really happy with the Merz b. Schwanen sweatshirt in terms of quality & fit and the arm length is superb as I can wear the sleeve with the cuff folded over
-
@henry_david i have that same RMC zip hoodie from S&S (gah a lot of my money goes to Mari & Co), and it really fucking rules. So your crew is unbrushed loops on the inside? Curious about one of those now — I really like both textures.
And yep RMC shit is ace. I have a heavyweight flannel of theirs that I loooove, and wanna pick up some more. (It’s the green buffalo check one on S&S).
Lastly, mildly diff vibe but 3sixteen’s heavyweight hoodies are great, too. Nice interior fuzziness similar to, although a little less than RMC.
-
@den1mhead – That things looks comfy af. How'd you size with Merz? And how much shrinkage did you encounter?
@popvulture – Yeah, the 9oz raglan crew is great. I was just down in L.A. for the weekend and appreciated having something for the mild mornings/evenings that wasn't too warm. Not as lux feeling as the zip that we have (ugh the best).
Is that the 8 Hour Union sub branded shirt? Looks cozy af.
I'm gonna need to look into those. Might save me from my planned next purchase: the loopwheeled pullover hoodie from RMC thru S&S
-
@henry_david yep that's the one! It's very comfy indeed, thick and warm but nicely not too bulky or anything. Reminds me of a Filson vintage flannel but just a little heavier and softer.
Oh and you've definitely got me eyeing that crew now
Forgot to mention I have a Nudie crew that I've been wearing for several years and really love it. It's grey but kind of a twinge oatmeal, really nice color. Not as wild comfy as the RMC stuff but nonetheless great.
-
This ^ Strike Gold hoodie is a favourite of both mine and the Mrs which means that I don't always get to wear it
@henry_david yes the Merz feels great on. I went for a size 5/M but as yet I haven't soaked it. I noted @Appfaff's advice regarding shrinkage and the 5/M can easily accommodate this and still fit me well in the arms.
-
@popvulture – Buy it dude!
-
Ah man now I need to look into SG stuff @den1mhead. I have a few oversized sweatshirts from an L.A. brand called General Admission that my wife happens to love. Seems like she wears them more than I do…
-
Yeah I'll definitely be keeping an eye out or a SG crew as well. Buncha enablers up on the forum as always ::)

General loopwheel related question: have any of you re-brushed the inside of one of your fuzzy-interior sweatshirts after washing? I generally go for as long as I can without washing because they're so comfortable new, but I recently washed a 3Sixteen sweat because it got to be pretty disgusting after being the thing I wore during our 7 days of no power and water ice storm, haha.
But yep, the inside has lost a good bit of its fluff, much like a UHF kinda loses its softness after a wash. I'd like to get it back if there's a way. Seems like the dryer would do it, but I don't wanna try that for obvious reasons.
-
@popvulture – I recently cold-washed my RMC zip and then let it air dry. The fluffy nature of it was much as when new. Perhaps @den1mhead has some experience with his Merz, etc.?
-
Ah interesting. Well that's good to know then!

Lookin' dapper as always, Barcley!
The Strike Gold sweatshirts are just out of this world. That fleece is SO soft! Earlier this year, I picked up some Buzz Rickson sweatshirts from Self Edge (navy and olive). They're a bit lighter weight but perfect for layering. I wanted to pick up the black TSG from Self Edge but they ran out, so I tried to get the black Buzz Rickson, but they ran out of that, too! So, I ended up going with The Real McCoy's black sweatshirt with brown stitching from Standard & Strange. Just a really beautiful piece that fits a little big but made an awesome addition to the wardrobe.
